Load Balancing and Relaying Framework in TDD W-CDMA Multi-hop Cellular Networks

چکیده
In 3G cellular networks, high data-rates can be achieved. However, fundamental capacity limitation still exists. Call requests are frequently blocked in hotspot areas. Load balancing among cells helps to solve this problem and to utilize the radio resources. However, existing load balancing schemes are not designed specifically for 3G networks. Some schemes are not flexible enough or even practical for such networks. In this paper, we propose a novel load balancing and relaying framework for 3G TDD W-CDMA multi-hop cellular networks. This framework consists of a load balancing scheme called ALBA, a routing scheme called ACAR and a slot assignment scheme called E-DSSA. Our framework provides a realistic integrated load balancing solution for these networks. Simulation results show that this framework reduces the call blocking ratios of hotspot areas, balances load among cells and increases system throughput with low packet delay.

On Distributed CAC and DCA in Multi-hop 4G Wireless Networks
Recently, we developed a framework, namely Multi-hop TDD CAC and DCA (MTCD), for optimal centralized DCA in multi-hop 4G/4G+ UTRA TDD networks. We also proposed two CAC schemes that use a pre-defined optimization algorithm to ensure that admission is based, to a large extent, on topology maintenance, energy conservation, load balancing, and fairness. In this paper, we address the centralized li...

Wireless mobile communications technology has been evolving rapidly in the past decade. The number of mobile subscribers has reached 2 billions and is expected to reach 3 billions by the end of 2010. Most countries have already deployed or have started to deploy the third generation (3G) wireless cellular networks. In 3G, in addition to traditional voice service, users are provided with multi-m...

When shortest path routing is employed in large scale multi-hop wireless networks such as sensor networks, nodes located near the center of the network have to perform disproportionate amount of relaying for others. Nodes in such traffic hot-spots deplete their batteries faster than others due to their high relay load. These traffic hot-spots also adversely affect the network capacity due to in...

In this paper, we present an analytical framework for the evaluation of the uplink performance of multihop cellular networks based on dynamic time division duplex (TDD). New wireless broadband protocols, such as WiMAX, WiBro, and 3G-LTE apply TDD, and mobile communication protocols under standardization (e.g., IEEE802.16j) are investigating mobile multihop relay (MMR) as a future technology. In...
متن کاملOn the Capacity Modeling of Multi-hop Cellular Packet Cdma Networks
Wireless multihop networks with cellular structure have the potential to support high data rate traffic at a reasonable degree of implementation complexity. We consider a cellular network architecture composed of base stations, routers, and terminals and focus on its throughput modeling. Simply adding routers to the current cellular networks may not improve the throughput, since relaying the pa...
